Terminator Genisys

Myself, like many have been very sceptical of the new re-booted Terminator Genysis film, not only because the last two films (especially 3) in my eyes were a bit of a mess and ruined was was two of the best films ever made in my eyes in T1 and T2.

So it’s with great relief when I caught the new trailer over the weekend that I now look forward to a new Terminator film in 2015.

I think they have went back to basics, they realised that original ‘chase’ type film and staying alive was more appealing than that of a futuristic war (we may still get that) and they have looked to create their own path but stay truthful to the original films, by trying to do what Star Trek done with JJ Abrams, altering time to create their own films without saying those in the past didn’t happen, an alternate world if you wish.

Just by looking at some of the stills going around the internet, they have stayed very truthful to the original films, with some clips on that trailer almost shot for shot like the originals in the 80’s/90’s.

In Alan Taylor, they have a very capable director, one who has not only worked on the epic Game of Thrones, but also directed the second Thor film for Marvel, so he knows how to handle big budget and story well.

I was also glad to know they got James Cameron involved who helped pave the way for the return for Arnold Schwarzenegger, who I think if they get this right, could be a scene stealer for the film.

Anyway, enough of my rambling, catch the first trailer below.

Terminator Genisys, directed by Alan Taylor and starring Emilia Clarke, Jai Courtney, Jason Clarke, Matt Smith and Arnold Schwarzenegger is due in UK cinemas on 3rd July 2015.
