The Walking Dead Cobalt

Good news for all those Walking Dead fans out there, AMC has confirmed that production has started on the companion series for The Walking Dead, codenamed Cobalt and that we can expect to see it at the end of the Summer with at least 2 seasons.

Cobalt’s first 2 season will follow the same formula as the original Walking Dead, with a 6 episode first season before we get a full second season in 2016. What this means is we are likely to have both shows running one after the other, giving fans an almost year round zombie fix.

Starring Kim Dickens and Cliff Curtis as the two biggest names, Charlie Collier the AMC president had this to say about the spin-off show:

We take incredibly seriously the notion of building a satisfying companion series to the number one show on television. From the beginning of ‘The Walking Dead’ on AMC, we’ve been asked questions about what was going on in other parts of the zombie apocalypse, and what it looked like as the world really did ‘turn.’ Through this new series, we’re going to find out. We respectfully follow the request of Monty Python as we bring out (the latest of) our Dead.

I’m not sure exactly sure where this show will fit in with the timeline of the current show, it could be running at the same time or it could start again at the start of the apocalypse, only time will tell.
