Marco Polo on Netflix

For a while now it’s been known that Netflix are really making a big splash in producing their own content, the latest of which is Marco Polo.

Off the back of the success of House of Cards and Orange is the New Black, Netflix are going into epic globetrotting territory with its new Marco Polo series. The show, which is due for release on 12th December 2014 has a very ‘Game of Thrones’ feel to it in the first trailer, showing grand battles, amazing landscapes and a fair amount of nudity.

The series will follow the Italian explorer’s early years in Kublai Khan’s court in 13th century China and has a 10 episode run. I’m not entirely sure if we might get more or if this is a short-run show, but it looks interesting and could be a good binge watch over the festive period for those with Netflix.

Marco Polo starring Lorenzo Richelmy (as Marco Polo), Benedict Wong, Olivia Cheng, Rick Yune, Tom Wu, Joan Chen and Claudia Kim will be available in its entirety on 12th December 2014.
