February 2015 Preview

February is upon on us and that can only mean one thing, the Oscars, but also this month we have a raft of new films, 19 in total and only one of those is a sequel.

We have films that caused global controversy, one that was massively delayed and the return of the likes of Jennifer Lopez, Will Smith and George Lucas.

Fifty Shades of Grey | Trailer

Fifty Shades of Grey

Like or loathe the global phenomenon that was the book, this film was always going to be the biggest grossing film of February, especially with them aiming for a Valentines release to get all the women in the door for it.

Having been one to not read the book, I’m not sure what to expect from the film in all honesty, will they concentrate on the sex side of the book or will the focus more on the overarching story? Only time will tell, but this film is going to be huge, whether its good or bad.

Selma | Trailer

A film about Martin Luther King and his march from Selma to Montgomery to help gain the voting rights for black people.

This is an Oscar nominated film with David Oyelowo in what is described as a strong and powerful  performance.

Jupiter Ascending | Trailer

Jupiter Ascending

A massive sci-fi adventure from the creators of The Matrix and starring Channing Tatum and Mila Kunis, this film has been in the making for a while now.

Originally due for release at the end of the blockbuster season last year, the film was delayed 7 months, thought to be because of the poor performance of Edge of Tomorrow and a feeling that the sci-fi epic might not connect with audiences.

All that aside, this looks visually stunning and although Tatum’s ear look a little weird, this could be a film that either does great or flops.
