Martin Scorsese’s 2010 film Shutter Island starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Mark Rufallo and Sir Ben Kingsley is possibly going to become a TV show. It’s reported that HBO and Paramount Television will be working on the project with a working title of Ashecliffe (the name of the fictional hospital).
It’s also thought that Scorsese will direct the pilot episode, much like he did with Boardwalk Empire and will also look to executive produce along with DiCaprio.
The original film, based off the book by Dennis Lehane told the story of two U.S. marshals, Teddy Daniels and Chuck Aule, who are summoned to a remote island to investigate the disappearance of a woman from the island’s fortress-like insane asylum.
No word yet of when this could happen, but as a fan of the film I’m looking forward to see what they bring with this show.
